Even though I normally paint Canadian landscapes, occasionally I try something else if it captures my interest. I painted "Sunset Cliffs" from a photo I saw of this area in San Diego. After researching the area a bit, I found that the "peace sign", perched above the cliffs was a piece of art someone placed there. Then it was mysteriously removed. Nobody knows the artist who put it there or who removed it. Apparently several pieces have been placed in the same location at different times. I felt it was interesting enough to make it the subject matter of this painting. This painting was done in oils on a 23" x 16" pre-stretched canvas.
